No Offense But………..

My unfiltered thoughts about everything.

Living In Your Own Mind

There’s no right or wrong way to express yourself. Some of us just tend to do it a little differently. I’ve always kind of lived  outside the box. It was never a conscious decision, just something organic. I couldn’t tell you how long that’s been the case. I just know that as far back as I can remember, I’ve never had a taste for conformity. And it isn’t because I have an issue with what’s expected or what’s in style. It’s just that I’ve always followed my own instincts. The older I’ve gotten, the more I’ve realized how out of sync with everyone else they are. Some people might call it rebellious. I’d say I don’t know of any other way to be.

As it turns out, most of the people I call friends are in the same boat. They’re very much inhabitants of their respective worlds, folks who live comfortably in their own mind. And I take solace in that, in knowing that the opinions and the thoughts I’m surrounded with are individual. That’s rare. And again, like my pre-disposition, the selection of who to run with was never intentional or thought out. I simply gravitated towards people who had distinct, original personalities.

It’s a different way of living, for sure. I’m not easy to define, and there are times when it might have been less stressful to just follow along. But it wouldn’t have been as gratifying. Certainly, I wouldn’t have learned so much in such a short span of time had it not been for my willingness to test the parameters of what’s acceptable, to ask as many questions as possible. For all the challenges of following ones own path, seeing the world from your own vantage is worth the sacrifice.
